The Belize Barrier Reef is like a playground in the sea. The corals, the fish, and the environment all make for a wonderful experience waiting for happen. On our last trip to this gift of nature, we went snorkeling, scuba diving, and canoeing. We were able to experience nature up close, and witness sea creatures in their natural habitat.
The Belize Barrier Reef is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. No matter how advanced and modern the world gets, the most wonderful sights are still found in the pockets of nature.
Scuba diving and snorkeling are always wonderful experiences. Experiencing nature firsthand and spending quiet time under the water is always amazing. Most tourists love snorkeling and scuba diving because these activities bring you closer to nature.
That’s what I thought, too—until we went canoeing on the Belize Barrier Reef. Instead of the normal underwater view, we were able to see horizons and blue skies, and clear oceans.
We were able to see the different hues of blue all over the ocean, experience the lulling of the waves, and see the corals and fish under the clear blue waters. While snorkeling and scuba diving leave you with feelings of awe and amazement, canoeing leaves you speechless and satisfied.
Paddling through the water, balancing the boat, and watching the fish swim lazily beneath us was something that can only experienced here, in the Belize Barrier Reef. Truly, nothing can compare.
After a day of paddling and wandering through the coral reefs, we drifted ashore and made camp near the beach. It was a wonderful gift of nature. Even though the night was warm, the sound of the crashing waves lulled all of us to sleep.
In the morning, we went canoeing once more. We were better now. If yesterday, we fell in the water because of lack of balance, today, we would make up for it. Our plan was to enjoy the Belize Barrier Reef to the fullest.
We visited the Silk cays and the Buttonwood Cay. We camped in random places, swam through coral reefs, and watched fish swim under our little canoes. We learned how to traverse the waves with the help of our guides, and become one with the ocean.
No matter how far the world gets, nothing can beat nature. Its beauty and magnificence can be found nowhere else. Canoeing over coral reefs and seeing so many colors underneath the water is still one of our favorite experiences to date. Exploring the wonders of Belize is truly an experience to behold.
